93rd Academy Awards
The 93rd annual Academy Awards were unusual to say the least. There was no host and there was a mix of nominees attending in person and some who were tuning in via Zoom. The producers of the show tried to mix things up this year by ending the ceremony with the Best Actor category, rather than the traditional Best Picture category. This odd choice backfired a bit and made for an awkward ending.
But it was also a historic year, with a woman winning for Best Director (only the second time this has occurred in 93 years!). Although legendary Glenn Close did not win an Oscar, she won the night by showing off her trivia knowledge and dancing to “Da Butt.” Those are the highlights of the night! Check out the winners below!
